The Management Committee

The Association's Committee of Management is made up of Association Members voted in by the membership at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The Committee of Management makes important decisions in the running of the Association between AGMs.

  Jeff Goddard, Lerwick Chairperson
  Joined the Committee in 2001, Dr Goddard is a Chartered Accountant serving with the Shetland Charitable Trust. He was first elected Chairman in August 2008. Prior to this he served as Committee Treasurer from 2003 to 2005, and as vice-chairman from 2005 to 2008.

  Bobby Hunter, Burra Vice-chairperson
  Mr Hunter recently retired as the local manager of an electrical wholesaler. He is also Chairman of the Burra and Trondra Community Council and other voluntary groups. He also acts as a JP. He joined the Committee in 2001. He was elected a Vice-chair in August 2008.

  Louise Rosie, Lerwick Vice-chairperson
  Louise joined the Committee in 2005 bringing with her skills in marketing and business administration. She is an Account Manager with a large marketing firm. Louise is a sharing -owner with the Association. She was elected a Vice-chair in August 2008.

  Sheila Duncan, Lerwick Treasurer
  Sheila Duncan became a Committee Member in 2005 and was elected as Treasurer of the Association at the 2005 AGM. Sheila was until recently a tenant of the Association and is a qualified accountant working with Shetland Arts. Sheila has many other interests and is well known in Shetland as a singer.

  John Dally, Whalsay  
  Mr Dally is a former Depute Head Teacher having recently retired. He informally represents the community of Whalsay. He has been heavily involved in voluntary work and is one of the firefighters on the Island. He has been on the Committee since 1988.

  John Handley, Dunrossness  
  Mr Handley joined the Committee in 2002. He is an Association tenant and is a Technical teacher at Anderson High School.

  Willie Henderson, Lerwick  
  Mr Henderson is the local Chairman of Crossroads and is involved in several other voluntary bodies. He is a retired housing manager.

  Jim Henry, Lerwick  
  Jim Henry is a Councillor and represents Lerwick South. He was first co-opted to the Committee in August 2007 and became a full Committee Member in 2008. He was drawn to join the Association in part because of all the new homes being built in his ward.

  George Jacobson, Dunrossness  
  George Jacobson is a retired Civil Engineer who latterly worked for the Shetland Islands Council. He joined the Management Committee in 2004. His other interests include classic cars and motorcycles, managing the local sports field and assisting with senior citizens groups.

  Gordon Mitchell, Bigton  
  Now retired as Training Captain with Bristows Helicopters in Shetland, Capt. Mitchell, an ex-tenant, has been on the Committee since 1980 and served as Chairman from 1990 to 1999. He has recently retired as a Member of the Shetland Islands Council where he was the Council spokesperson on housing issues. He is currently serving on the boards of Tenants Participation Advisory Service and the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations

  Tom Stove, Sandwick  
  Mr Stove is a retired company director and past chairman of the Lerwick Port Authority. He is a former member of the Shetland Islands Council, and a former Council Convenor. He has been a member of the Committee since 1980 and has twice served two full terms as Chairman of the Association. He retired from his second five year term in 2008.

  Agnes Tallack, Sumburgh  
  Agnes Tallack joined the Committee in 2008. Agnes works for the Shetland Islands Council Social Work department with a remit to provide support to vulnerable families and children.

  Rae Tulloch, Dunrossness  
  Mr Tulloch has been on the Committee since 1991 and has been Vice-Chairman since 2003. He served as Chairman from 1999 to 2003, when his term of office ended. He was a partner in a building firm for many years before moving into education and becoming Assistant Principal of the Shetland College from which post he has now retired. He has now retired again from being a training consultant with Shetland Enterprise Ltd, but he still does some part-time work for Development partners of Inverness.

  Lucy Wheeler, Lerwick  
  Lucy joined the Association's Committee in 2009. She is a sharing-owner with the Association with interests in local development in general and in particular the opportunities for future generations to have a more affordable and sustainable housing. She works for the SIC Planning department.
