Hjaltland Housing Association is the main independent
housing agency in the Shetland
Islands. We aim to provide quality and affordable
housing for people in housing need, including those with
special needs.
We have a commitment to working with the local authority
to ensure that housing is available to all parts of Shetland.
We aim to ensure that remote communities remain viable
and encourage such communities to take part in the
management of the Association. Through our One Stop
Shop we also act as agents for the Scottish Government,
providing grants to first-time
builders, and for the Shetland Islands Council providing
assistance for repairs, improvements and adaptations.
We currently manage over 530 houses for rent or shared
ownership, which includes general needs, sheltered and
amenity, and other special needs housing.
The Association is a member of the Scottish Federation of
Housing Associations, and is registered with the Scottish
Housing Regulator (Reg. No. HAL 127). We are registered
with the Financial Services Authority (Reg. No. 1832 R(S) )
and a registered charity (No. SC 031954).
