The Association through its One Stop Shop acts as an agent for the Shetland Islands Council's Scheme of Assistance providing support to private householders for repair, improvements and adaptations to their homes.

The One Stop Shop can provide a complete support service for householders repairing and improving their homes, including:

• Advice and Information for all homeowners
• Grants for Disabled Adaptations
• Minor Adaptations Service
• Fuel Poverty Grants
• Grants/Loans in specific limited circumstances
• Handyperson Service

One benefit of the Scheme of Assistance is the Handyperson service which provides small repairs of up to £2,500 (inclusive of VAT) to properties. This service is provided free of charge to a homeowner in receipt of the Guarantee Element of the Pension Credit, Income Support or Income Based Job Seekers Allowance.
