Tenant Satisfaction Survey Results 2022/23

January 5th 2023

Hjaltland Housing Association recently completed a survey of all its tenants, to gauge overall levels of satisfaction and to help identify households struggling with the cost-of-living crisis. The results from the survey will be combined with other key performance indicators, and then submitted to the Scottish Housing Regulator in May of this year.

With support and input from the Association’s Tenant Focus Group, the wording of the survey was finalised in time for the launch in September 2022. A mixed methodology of data collection included postal returns, phone calls and online submissions, all of which resulted in 275 responses.

  • 91.27% of tenants are satisfied or very satisfied with the overall service provided by Hjaltland Housing Association (National average – 87.51%)
  • 95.26% of tenants feel Hjaltland Housing Association is good or very good at keeping tenants informed (National average – 91.71%)
  • 87.18% of tenants are satisfied or very satisfied with the opportunities given to participate in decision making (National average – 85.64%)
  • 88.19% of tenants are satisfied or very satisfied with quality of their home (National average – 85.30%)
  • 84.56% of tenants are satisfied or very satisfied with Hjaltland Housing Association’s contribution to the management of the neighbourhood (National average – 85.03%)
  • 85.98% of tenants feel the rent represents good or very good value for money (National average 82.53%)
  • 51.13% of respondents had heaters in their homes they were not switching on because they were worried about the rising cost of electricity
  • 9.26% of respondents were struggling to pay off an outstanding debt with their energy provider
  • Livingrooms and bedrooms are being prioritised as warm zones, with significant heat rationing within kitchens, hallways and bathrooms.

The Association is very grateful to all the tenants who took the opportunity to provide us with this feedback. Furthermore, we are indebted to the members of the Tenant Focus Group, who approved the wording and completed a pilot survey to confirm the right questions were being asked in the right way. We would like to use this opportunity to remind all tenants that anyone can join the Tenant Focus Group – we meet on a quarterly basis, whilst we also send out draft policies and documents for comment, allowing you to have your say in your own time.
