Skilled Labourer

Skilled Labourer – Full Time Permanent Position – Salary £27,408 - £28,313 (including island allowance)

We have an excellent opportunity for a hardworking, reliable and experienced skilled labourer to join our repairs and maintenance team within Hjaltland Housing Association. All aspects of work will be undertaken in occupied social housing properties
As the largest provider of new housing in Shetland, Hjaltland builds, manages and maintains houses all over Shetland, and will offer you excellent conditions including 25 days annual leave plus public holidays, a sickness benefit scheme and company pension.

Skilled Labourer Position

As a skilled labourer you will have a variety of responsibilities carrying out minor estate maintenance such as assisting tradesmen, general concrete work, cutting grass to several schemes, changing filters, cleaning properties, painting and moving materials etc. It should be noted that we are also requiring the successful applicant to be on call for emergencies, therefore a van is provided with this post.

Skilled Labourer Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required:

The successful applicant must be able to work as an effective member of a team, be self-reliant, and able to work well under pressure as well as having experience of prioritising their workload and meeting deadlines
- Ideally 5 years’ experience in construction and maintenance.
- Will have a full driving licence and meet the requirements of the Association’s Driving at Work Policy
- Will have experience of working to current industry Health & Safety Standards.

Joiner - Full Time

Joiner – Full time Permanent Position – Salary £30,136 - £31,042 (including island allowance)

We have an excellent opportunity for a hardworking, reliable and experienced joiner to join our repairs and maintenance team within Hjaltland Housing Association. All aspects of work will be undertaken in occupied social housing properties located throughout Shetland.
As the largest provider of new housing in Shetland, Hjaltland builds, manages and maintains houses all over Shetland, and will offer you excellent conditions including, 25 days annual leave plus public holidays, a sickness benefit scheme and company pension.
The joinery role will involve working with the asset management team delivering a high quality and cost effective planned and day to day maintenance service, which includes carrying out minor repairs and essential estates services. It should be noted that we also require the successful applicant to be on call for emergencies, therefore a van is provided with this post.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required:

The successful applicant must be able to work as an effective member of a team, be self-reliant, and able to work well under pressure as well as having experience of prioritising their workload and meeting deadlines.
- Time Served Joiner or suitable alternative experience
- Will have a full driving licence and meet the requirements of the Association’s Driving at Work Policy.
- A proven track record of experience in Joinery and general maintenance.
- A sound knowledge of Health and Safety and experience in completing risk assessments.
