The Association is delighted to announce the start of its project to build twentysix much needed properties in Lerwick. The Association recently awarded the contract to DITT Construction Ltd to build the new properties with work due to start on site in the next few weeks. The new development is located at Burnbank and Hill-Grind at the North end of Lerwick and will provide eight 2 person flats, fourteen 3 person properties and four 5 person properties. The Association hopes to be letting the first of the properties in the spring of 2015 with overall completion expected later that year. The Association's Property Services Manager, Paul Leask, commented: "This project has been made possible by the partnership working arrangement currently in place between ourselves and the SIC with the land, housing designs, planning permission and building warrant all provided by the Local Authority. The Scottish Government has also contributed to the project with £1.15m of grant assistance for what will be the second phase of new housing in the area, following the successful completion of twenty two properties by the SIC last year".
