At Hjaltland, we believe that our customers and householders should not live in fear of violence or abuse from a partner, former partner or any other member of their household. We commit to treating people experiencing domestic abuse in a sympathetic, supportive and non-judgemental way.

As a member of the Shetland Domestic Abuse Partnership, we are committed to working with partner agencies to support any tenant who may be experiencing, or at risk of, domestic abuse.

Domestic abuse is still a largely hidden crime and measuring the true scale of the issue is difficult. Domestic abuse happens in all communities regardless of gender, age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, marriage or civil partnership and pregnancy or maternity. Our own Domestic Abuse policy can be found here, and we would also sign post anyone looking for further information to visit www.safershetland.com where further support can be provided.
