Hjaltland Housing Association is seeking Board Members who are passionate and committed to making a meaningful difference for people and communities.

At Hjaltland we strive to be more than just a landlord. With over 50 years of history, what sets us apart is the way we go further to improve the lives of our tenants, responding innovatively to their changing needs. We provide over 880 homes across Shetland and go further to provide housing you can call a home.

This is an exciting time to join the Hjaltland Board, which plays a pivotal role in setting the association’s strategic direction, overseeing performance, and ensuring compliance with relevant legal and regulatory frameworks. The Board provides members with an excellent opportunity to get involved in making a real difference to our tenants and communities.

Whilst applications are welcome from everyone, Hjaltland is particularly keen to hear from those with the following skills and experience:

• Finance
• Artificial Intelligence, Technology and Innovation

We are also keen to speak to any of our tenants who may be considering a position on the Board.

Candidates should be able to commit to seven meetings per year, normally held on Thursdays between 6pm and 8pm. Other participation and training opportunities are available throughout the year, giving you the opportunity to build on your existing professional experience, develop new skills, expand your knowledge and grow your network.

No qualifications are required to serve on the Board and Hjaltland are keen to encourage people from all backgrounds, reflecting the communities we serve. Positions on our Board are voluntary, but travel and other reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
