We were delighted to host members of our Tenant Focus Group on Friday 14th June for the first quarterly meeting of the new reporting year. We are ever grateful to the tenants who give up their lunch time to help scrutinise the services we deliver. Taking place over a working lunch (food and refreshments provided), we cover a variety of topics and are always keen to hear from anyone new interested in joining us. In addition to the face to face option, we can also facilitate anyone wishing to join us via Zoom.

Annual Return on the Charter

All social landlords are required to complete an annual submission of performance indicators to the Scottish Housing Regulator. The Association’s performance during 2023/24 received tenant scrutiny, with some great discussion and debate along the way. Tenants were invited to identify any areas where further explanation would be useful, whilst tenants were pleased with the information and standard of service being delivered.

Compliments register

At our last focus group meeting, there was a suggestion that along with reporting on the complaints received during the year, the Association should also celebrate the successes. Therefore, a report was compiled and presented to the Management Committee in May, show-casing positive feedback received from tenants and customers – this was also shared at today’s meeting.

Summer Newsletter

Content for the summer newsletter was agreed, which will focus on the following topics;

  • Upcoming Estate Inspections
  • Development updates (Walls & Staney Hill)
  • Noise app guidance
  • Enjoying garden areas responsibly
  • Planned maintenance schedule
  • New starts & retirements

Estate Inspections

Our team of Housing Officers will be completing a tour of our entire estate during the summer months, a key element in us maintaining tidy and presentable schemes where tenants are proud to call home. We will be advertising this on our social media channels and inviting tenants and residents to highlight any areas of concern.

Development updates

Whilst the infrastructure work at the Staney Hill is on-going, and will be for some time, the members received an update and a small slideshow on the new build properties in Walls. Four semi-detached houses are being built to the high standard we come to expect from E&H Builders, and we hope to be in possession of the keys ready to hand out to four lucky tenants in the Autumn of this year.

Tenant Competitions

All tenants were reminded about the on-going tenant competition for Best Garden and Cutest Pet – this will run until September, at which point winners will be selected and then presented with a £50 voucher. This will be promoted via social media throughout the summer.

The next Tenant Focus Group meeting will take place in September. In the meantime, tenants will be providing input into policies going up for approval, and the drafting of the Annual Report.
