Tenant Focus Group Meeting 20th September 2024

September 23rd 2024

Our Tenant Focus Group met on Friday 20th September, the second meeting of this financial year. As always, we are very grateful to the tenants who attend our sessions, providing feedback and scrutiny on the services we deliver.

The main area of discussion for this particular session was on Phase 1 of the Energy Efficiency pilot completed in some of our properties at Thistle Court. This project will help the Association create a strategy in meeting the new ‘Social Housing Net Zero Standard’, which is being finalised by The Scottish Government and will set the energy efficiency standard for all social housing in Scotland, to be achieved by 2033.

Using a ‘fabric-first’ approach, the project saw a one-off capital investment for the installation of rigid insulation in the external walls and under the floors. The findings confirm tenants are seeing a huge reduction in their energy use, whilst also finding their properties warmer and more comfortable.

Annual Report

Hot off the press! Members were given a sneak preview of this year’s Annual Report, which is scheduled to be sent out over the next week or two. In a bid to save on printing and mailing costs, the vast majority of tenants will receive this electronically. In addition to the report, tenants will receive a survey and the Autumn edition of the Association’s quarterly newsletter.

Tenant Competitions

The Association has been running a photo competition over the summer months, giving tenants an opportunity to show off their gardens and their pets. The following categories were considered and respective winners chosen;

  • Cutest Pet
  • Funniest Pet
  • Best Garden
  • Best Planter

The winners will feature as part of the Autumn newsletter, whilst also collecting a £50 prize voucher.

Unbelievably, the next meeting will be our pre-Christmas get together in early December. As always, the Association is keen to hear from new tenants who would like to be involved in our future meetings, keeping in mind we can create an opportunity for tenants to join in online.
